These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of HarmonyBudget (“HarmonyBudget,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including our website, free tools and calculators, our waitlist, and the budgeting service you can connect to your financial accounts (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract in your province or territory, to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide to us is accurate.

2. The Service

The Service currently includes:

  • Free tools and content. Calculators, research, and guides that are free to use.
  • Waitlist and early access. You can join our waitlist or early-access program to be notified about, and to try, new features.
  • Connected budgeting. Where available, you can connect your financial accounts to view balances, transactions, and spending insights.

The Service is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and some features may be offered on a limited or early-access basis.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login information secure. Tell us promptly at hello@harmonybudget.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Connecting financial accounts

You may choose to connect a bank or financial account through Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”). When you do:

  • You authorize us and Plaid to access account information such as balances and transactions, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • Access is read-only. HarmonyBudget cannot move money, make payments, or initiate transfers.
  • Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid’s own terms and privacy policy. You can disconnect your accounts at any time.
  • You are responsible for making sure you have the right to connect any account you link.

5. Not financial, legal, or tax advice

HarmonyBudget is an informational and organizational tool. The insights, calculators, estimates, and content we provide are for general informational purposes only and are not financial, investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice. Figures may be estimates and may not reflect your exact situation. Always confirm important numbers with official sources (for example, the CRA or your financial institution) and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. You are solely responsible for your decisions.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose;
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that are not yours;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, overload, or attempt to breach the security of the Service;
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as permitted by law; or
  • Misrepresent your identity or your authority to connect an account.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its content, design, software, and trademarks, is owned by HarmonyBudget or its licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You retain ownership of the information you provide; you grant us the rights needed to operate and improve the Service as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties such as Plaid and our hosting and email providers, and may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data or estimates will be accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HarmonyBudget and its owners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including under Canadian consumer protection laws.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HarmonyBudget and its owners from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. On termination, the sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which HarmonyBudget operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
