Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
HarmonyBudget (“HarmonyBudget,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps you understand your money. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built HarmonyBudget around a simple promise: we never sell your financial data. Your use of HarmonyBudget is also governed by our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you sign up or join our waitlist, we collect your email address and any details you choose to provide (such as your name or preferences).
- Financial account information. If you choose to connect a bank or financial account, we receive information about that account through Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) — see Section 3. This may include account balances, transaction history, account names and types, and the name of your financial institution.
- Usage and device information. We collect basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and how you interact with the app. We use this to keep the service secure and to improve it.
We do not collect or store your online banking username, password, or login credentials. Those are entered directly into Plaid’s secure interface and are never shared with us.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate HarmonyBudget — including showing you your balances, transactions, and spending insights;
- Communicate with you about your account, updates, and (where you have opted in) product news;
- Keep the service safe — detecting, preventing, and addressing fraud, abuse, and security issues;
- Improve and develop our features and understand how the product is used; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. How we use Plaid
We use Plaid to let you securely connect your financial accounts. When you connect an account, you grant us and Plaid the right to access and use that information.
- Read-only access. We use Plaid only to read account information such as balances and transactions. HarmonyBudget cannot move money — we do not initiate payments, transfers, or any other movement of funds.
- Your credentials stay with Plaid. You enter your bank login details directly into Plaid. We never see or store them.
- Plaid’s own privacy practices. Plaid’s handling of your information is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. By connecting an account, you also agree to Plaid’s policies.
You can disconnect your financial accounts at any time, which stops future data access. You can also manage the connections Plaid holds on your behalf through Plaid Portal.
5. Data security
We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your data and continually improve our protections.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete or de-identify your personal and financial information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
For specific retention periods and how we securely dispose of data, see our Data Retention and Disposal Policy.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@harmonybudget.com. You can:
- Disconnect any financial account at any time;
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold;
- Request correction or deletion of your information; and
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email.
We are based in Canada, and we handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
8. Children’s privacy
HarmonyBudget is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of HarmonyBudget after an update means you accept the revised policy.
