Canada benefit payment dates 2026
Every date the government sends money in 2026 — the Canada child benefit, GST/HST credit, CPP, OAS and more, in one place. Copied from the official CRA and Service Canada calendars, with a link to the source beside each one.
What’s coming next
The next payment for each program we track, soonest first.
The GST/HST credit is now the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit
From July 2026 the GST/HST credit is called the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, and the government is increasing it by 25% for five years. A one-time top-up worth 50% of the 2025–26 amount was also issued to people who received the January 2026 GST/HST credit payment. The payment dates and the way you qualify are unchanged — only the name and the amount.

Programs that have ended
Still searching for one of these? It no longer pays — here’s when the last payment went out.
Canada Carbon Rebate CCR
Ended April 2025Formerly the climate action incentive payment. The federal fuel charge was removed in April 2025 and the rebate ended with it — the April 22, 2025 payment was the last one. There are no Canada Carbon Rebate payments in 2026, and no date has been announced for its return.
Final payments: Wednesday, January 15, 2025 and Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Details on canada.ca
If your payment doesn’t arrive
Payments are issued on the dates above, but they don’t always land the same morning. Direct deposit usually arrives on the date itself; a mailed cheque takes longer.
canada.ca asks you to wait 5 to 10 business days past the payment date for Service Canada benefits — CPP, OAS, the Canada Disability Benefit and the Veteran disability pension. For CRA-administered credits it depends on the benefit: each program page below states its own waiting period. Signing in to My Account or My Service Canada Account is faster than calling — the payment status is usually there.
The most common reason a payment stops is an unfiled tax return. Nearly every credit here — the CCB, the GST/HST credit, the Ontario trillium benefit — is recalculated each July from your latest return, so a missed filing pauses the payments until you catch up.
Common questions
What benefit payments are coming in 2026?
This page tracks 10 federally-administered benefits: Canada child benefit, GST/HST credit, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Ontario trillium benefit, Canada Disability Benefit, Advanced Canada workers benefit, Alberta child and family benefit, Veteran disability pension, N.L. disability benefit. Each one's full 2026 schedule is listed below, copied from the Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada payment calendars on canada.ca.
Why is the GST/HST credit now called something else?
From July 2026 the GST/HST credit is called the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, and the government is increasing it by 25% for five years. The payment dates and the way you qualify are unchanged — you still don't apply, the CRA works it out from your tax return. The January and April 2026 payments went out under the old name; July and October 2026 are paid under the new one.
Do CPP and OAS arrive on the same day?
Yes. Service Canada issues Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security payments on the same date each month, so if you receive both they land together in one deposit. That date also covers CPP disability, children's and survivor benefits, plus the Guaranteed Income Supplement and the Allowance.
My payment hasn't arrived — how long should I wait?
For Service Canada benefits like CPP, OAS and the Canada Disability Benefit, canada.ca asks you to wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before contacting them. For CRA-administered credits it depends on the benefit: 5 business days for the Canada child benefit and the Alberta child and family benefit, 10 for the GST/HST credit, Ontario trillium benefit and the rest. Direct deposit lands on the date shown; a mailed cheque takes longer.
Is the Canada Carbon Rebate still being paid?
No. The federal fuel charge was removed in April 2025 and the Canada Carbon Rebate ended with it. The final payment was issued on April 22, 2025, and there are no Canada Carbon Rebate payments in 2026.
Why do some benefits pay on different days each month?
Payment dates are business days, so a scheduled date that lands on a weekend or a statutory holiday moves earlier in the month. That's why the Canada child benefit pays on the 20th most months but on December 11 in 2026, and why CPP and OAS land on a different weekday each month.
Where these dates come from
Every date on this page is transcribed from one of two official calendars — nothing is estimated or predicted:
- Benefits payment dates — Service Canada, covering CPP, OAS, the Canada Disability Benefit and the Veteran disability pension.
- Payment dates for CRA administered benefits and credits — the Canada Revenue Agency, covering the CCB, GST/HST credit and the provincial programs it pays.
Last checked against both sources in July 2026. If the government amends a date after that, canada.ca is the authority — we re-verify on a schedule and the page carries the date we last looked. This is general information, not financial or tax advice.
